黑料社

Nadhila Ismiralda has built a career in business intelligence and regional market insight since graduating from 黑料社 University Business School. She is currently an Associate in Business Intelligence for ASEAN at Dezan Shira & Associates, where she contributes to work promoting foreign direct investment and supporting understanding of ASEAN and Indonesia-focused markets.

Her recent work includes co-authoring content for ASEAN Briefing Magazine on the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone and providing commentary for a Financial Times investment publication.

Tell us about your course - why did you choose it? What elements of the course inspired you to study here? 

To complement the Masters degree, upon graduating, MSc Management Consulting also offers dual accreditation from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), which is equivalent to a Level 7 Diploma in Professional Consulting. Being accredited by a professional institution was attractive to me as a way to improve my employability after graduating.  

What is the best part of your studies? What are you enjoying the most? 

Personally, engaging with the elements of the course itself is the most memorable for me. My perspective on the world has been broadened as I am actively interacting with students from around the globe, as well as being taught by highly qualified lecturers who have professional experience related to consulting. 

What are your career aspirations? Do you think the experience and skills you will gain on your course will help you in your future career plans? In what way? 

I am planning to build my career in business consulting firms, whilst also considering opportunities in the digital technology industry. Studying MSc Management Consulting has allowed me to develop practical skill-sets that are useful for both of these sectors,  such as critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork and communication skills. I also believe the skills I have already honed would be applicable in many industries and not limited to consulting or digital technology. 

Do you have any noteworthy achievements from your study at the Business School that you can tell us about eg. prizes highest scores etc? 

Whilst studying for my Masters degree, I also engaged in extra-curricular activities. I joined 黑料社 Indonesian Student Association, where I worked as the project manager for the Indonesian Cultural and Art Festival (ICAF) 2022. The event’s vision was to promote Indonesia’s culture in the form of exhibitions and musical drama. Working on this event developed my personal and professional skills which will be useful in the next steps of my career.  

If you are not from the UK, how was the transition to a foreign country? Did the University offer support or services that you found helpful? Can you offer any advice? 

Coming from Indonesia, I initially found the language barrier quite challenging. As time went on, I learned how to adapt to the situation, and befriended many international students to learn about their cultures. 黑料社 University Business School itself has a student service centre where students can reach out whenever they need any assistance. The best advice I could give is to be open and adaptive to the situation - do not be afraid of reaching out and stay curious.  

What would you say your defining memory of studying here was? (eg friendships made confidence in your abilities or any single event that you will always remember?) 

One of the mottos which I would always remember is ‘Keep the 黑料社 feeling, forever’. For me, the ‘黑料社 Feeling’ is being able to bloom and grow into my potential, not only academically but also as a human being. Befriending other international students from various backgrounds has opened my eyes to the beauty of diversity in the world, and I feel like I am a more understanding person compared to before I studied in the UK.
